Feeling Stuck? have a practice question?
Preparing for a recital, audition, or want to be sure you're playing something "right?"
Sometimes when working on something for a long time, there comes a point where we feel "stuck." We can't really descrive it, but it seems like, the music isn't improving fast enough, the passage still sounds sloppy, or the rhythm seems off...even after you've worked on it with your teacher (or on your own) for what seems like forever! The more you practice, or try to solve the issue, it seems to get worse or you feel more frustrated and want to give up. Perhaps you've been in your head for too long and need another set of eyes and ears to see what the core issue is. That's where performance coaching comes in:
What's a Performance Coaching session?
It's an convenient and easy way to get an outside perspective to solve a musical/technique problem or ask a general question. You'll send me a video performance of a piece/passage, ask the question, or tell me what you're struggling with, and I'll work with you to answer it. We'll review the strategies you've already tried, and I'll suggest options you might not have thought of yet. Whether it's about playing, taking lessons, studying music, or general confidence in your own abilities, I'll remind you of what you're already doing well and focus on finding solutions that will get you closer to where you want to be!
Who is this service for?
I feel there should always be a supportive atmosphere when it comes to playing piano, especially if someone is willing to try and wants to improve. I'm offering this service because I know how frustrating it can be when you feel stuck, or feel like a passage is impossible learn. I've also had experiences where feedback or criticism wasn't very helpful (or constructive), wasn't specific enough, or the comments were discouraging. There were times when I left feeling worse and left with more questions. This service is for:
How does the process work?
1. Use the "Contact" box and write out what you'd like feedback on. The more details you provide, the better I can assist you on your personal issue. Be specific in where you are in your music process (the main struggle, what you've tried) and what your ultimate goal is. With my coaching feedback to you, include if you want
2. After your description, create a video, & include a youtube link to your video. When uploading your video, it can be set to "unlisted "so it won't be avilable in the search. In your video, please include your first name, name of the piece/composer, ask your question, and play. Videos can be up to 10 minutes. Just think of the video as showing a teacher what you need help with. If it's about technique or a music passage, explain the problem and play through it. Click here for video: Uploading an Unlisted Youtube video.
*If requesting a live video call: include your preferred days/time slots available. I'll reply with a Paypal payment link and confirm the day/time we'll have the session. Depending on the type of request, calls can range from 30 minutes (Zoom) to an hour. (Skype)
3. After I receive and review your message & video in my inbox, I'll reply with a Paypal payment link. After payment is recieved, you'll recieve your feedback within 7-14 days, unless you choose a live meeting. Keep in mind, the longer the video or more detailed the problem, the more time it will take time for me to find you the best solution. I'll do my best to get you comments as soon as possible.
