Feeling Stuck? have a practice question?
Preparing for a recital, audition, class, lesson and need quick advice?
Sometimes when working on something for a long time, there comes a point where we feel "stuck." We can't really descrive it, but it seems like, the music isn't improving fast enough, the passage still sounds sloppy, or the rhythm seems off...even after you've worked on it with your teacher (or on your own) for what seems like forever! The more you practice, or try to solve the issue, it seems to get worse or you feel more frustrated and want to give up. Perhaps you've been in your head for too long and need another set of eyes and ears to see what the core issue is. That's where performance coaching comes in:
What's a Performance Coaching session?
It's an convenient and easy way to get professional advice about solving technique problems, understanding theory concepts, enhancing performance progress, or asking general music question.
Personalized feedback will help you regain confidence in your own abilities. I'll remind you of what you're already doing well and focus on finding solutions to get you closer to where you want to be! Tell me what you're struggling with, we'll review strategies you've already tried, and I'll suggest options to help you get back on track! .
Who is this service for?
These sessions reinforce the helpful strategies from what you're already learning if you're self taught, in a group piano setting, or studying with your current teacher. Just as one may have an outside tutor for an academic subject, my role works in a similar way. The sessions aren't weekly lessons, but instead are check-ins for questions, extra preparation, or another professional perspective for important performances or exams. If working with a private teacher, it's advised you let your teacher know you're getting additional help. I'm available to speak with them personally if they have any questions.
How does the process work?
1. Use the "Contact" box and write out what you'd like feedback on. The more details you provide, the better I can assist you on your personal issue.
-Write out your current situation, where you are in your music process. Be Specific: the main struggles and what you've tried
-List what your ultimate goal is, and what you'd like to accomplish after the session
-Choose an option for how you'd like your feedback:
2. After your description, create a video, & include a youtube link to your video. When uploading your video, it can be set to "unlisted "so it won't be available in the search. In your video, please include your first name, name of the piece/composer, ask your question, and play. Videos can be up to 10 minutes. If it's about technique or a music passage, explain the problem and play through it. Click here for video: Uploading an Unlisted Youtube video.
*If requesting a live video call: include your preferred days/time slots available. I'll confirm the day/time suggested, along with a Paypal payment link. Depending on the type of request, calls can range from 30 minutes (Zoom) to an hour. (Skype)
3. After I receive and review your message & video in my inbox, I'll reply with a Paypal payment link. After payment is received, you'll get your feedback within 7-14 days, (sooner if possible) unless you choose a live meeting. Keep in mind, the longer the video or more detailed the problem, the more time it will take time for me to find you the best solution. I'll do my best to get you comments as soon as possible.
